A protein that consist of a single copy of the Aminotransferase class I and II (Pfam:PF00155) domain. Alpha-oxoamine synthase corresponds to the alpha-division of pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (PLP)-dependent enzymes. Alpha-oxoamine synthase are involved in catalysis of the decarboxylative condensation of a carboxylic acid coenzyme A (CoA) thioester and an amino acid, with the amino acid being covalently bound to the PLP via a Schiff base at the beginning of the catalytic cycle.
