| Definition |
A caspase-1-like protease that is a translation product of the human CASP1 gene or a 1:1 ortholog thereof. The active form of this protein proteolytically cleaves pro-IL-1beta to its mature, active form. The holoenzyme is a homodimer of catalytic domains, each of which contains the cleaved products caspase-1 p20 and p10 subunits.
