A transient receptor potential cation channel TRPC that is a translation product of the mouse Trpc2 gene or a 1:1 ortholog thereof. It mediates both receptor- and store depletion-triggered calcium entry. It plays an important role in the transduction machinery underlying the detection of pheromone signals by the vomeronasal organ (VNO), a part of the accessory olfactory system.
